These short (7-15 minute) videos are interesting and clearly explained for everyone to understand. The interactive components enhance the topic and really encourage scientific comprehension. The topics are limited, but if you can find one to use in the classroom, it's well worth it.

Description:

NOVA Science Now shares current stories from the PBS television show. For more than three decades, NOVA has been unrivaled in bringing authoritative, innovative and entertaining science documentaries to television. Now the same award-winning producers have teamed up with veteran reporter Robert Krulwich to cover the timeliest developments and intriguing personalities in science and technology today. Presenting multiple stories in a magazine format hosted by Krulwich and reported by a diverse team of correspondents in the field, NOVA Science NOW will air five times a year. The website contains video from the shows along with interactive components for the topics. Teacher guides and an archive of stories are available on the site.

Possible uses:

If applicable to curriculum, teachers can share these video clips with classes to further develop understanding of scientific topics. Students can then explore the other features of the stories in the computer lab or as homework. These clips could be assigned as homework for older students to view and respond to; suggestions are available in the teacher guides. These segments could also be viewed as science current events stories. Five are produced a year, so they could be interspersed out with other current events resources.
