The images, video clips and web cam all provide quality images. The information on the project is factual and interesting. The `Wild Cards´ share basic information on the animals in an interactive collector card format. Additional research on the elephant and leopard is included. The home page carries an ad for the National Geographic Magazine.

Description:

A man named Pete Le Roux created a man-made watering hole at the Mashatu Game Reserve in Southern Africa to protect animals from poachers. On this site, learn more about Pete´s Pond and the animals who visit it. See live video of the watering hole, recorded video clips, see a map of the area, learn about the animals and the technology involved with the Web Cam.

Possible uses:

Young children can enjoy seeing animals in their natural habitat - even live images of them drinking and mingling. Teachers can share images on screen as students learn about the animals of the area. Students of all ages can use this site for a beginning research point to gather information about African animals. Students studying environmental issues can read information on this site and discuss Le Roux´s solution and the ecological changes it created.
