The Wall Street Journal is an important tool in the adult business world. Looking at the newspaper as a teenager is daunting. This site provides materials that are geared at teens. The style and content are meant to captivate their attention while providing quality reporting that intends to be relevant to their lives. It would take a commitment of time to incorporate a subscription into curriculum and hard to plan for specific topics or skills. However, the other benefits may make it worth spending a class period a week with the materials.

Description:

The Wall Street Journal for the classroom shares articles with lesson plans and resources for teachers and students related to current news in the business world. From the site: "The Classroom Edition Web site, wsjclassroom.com, blends articles from the newspaper with original content--including daily news headlines; personal finance and college preparation resources for students; and additional instructional materials for teachers."

Possible uses:

High school students can read articles about the college experience and begin to plan for their own higher education. Classes can subscribe for the classroom newsletter and then teachers have access to FirstClass, which contains resources, articles, worksheets and lesson plans related to each issue. Without a subscription, there is still access to articles and students have access to college and career information.
