Understanding Genetics
Recommendation:
The online exhibits and some of the at-home activities are the interactive components of this site. They are short but fun and engaging. The site format is like a news site for genetics. The information is fairly current. Information to teach a foundation or understanding of genetics or even what genetics is, will need to be found elsewhere.
Description:
Understanding Genetics share stories, news, activities and ethics issues. The site also includes four online exhibits: Zooming in to DNA; What Color Eyes Will Your Children Have? Know Your Foods and Insider´s View into a Genetics Lab. Questions can be submitted to `Ask a Geneticist,´ and archived questions and answers can be read.
Possible uses:
Teachers can use this site for research about genetics. During a study, students can pose questions to the geneticist connected to this site. The online exhibits can be shared on a projector or done in a computer lab. Find ethical questions and general human health information for discussion and research.
