TAL provides a wide range of services for students, teachers, tutors, home schoolers and administrators. It has only been operating since 2004, but hopefully has discovered any kinks in its system and continues to grow in its offerings. The activities vary in their depth - some language arts activities are very worksheet-like and other activities incorporate more critical thinking skills. Check out the free trial offered.

From the website: "Think-and-Learn (TAL) is a comprehensive K-12 e-Learning environment. It is designed to help students develop competency in core subject areas, and on standardized achievement tests. TAL provides the resources needed to motivate students to learn and create meaningful interactions between teachers, students and parents. Individual students can subscribe to TAL for supplemental education and services. Alternatively, public, private and home schools can create their own on-line school community with access to all of the TAL resources. "TAL resources include course materials, web links, tutorials and practice questions aligned with state curriculum requirements. Teachers can also create their own course materials, including assignments and tests. Each course has an associated eClassroom, bulletin board and chat room to facilitate teacher and student interaction. Teachers, students and parents can track homework and tests on their calendar and get immediate feedback on student performance. "TAL is a complete online assessment and instructional environment, providing students with all the benefits of Internet-based educational resources in a closed, safe environment."
