This site is appropriate for the intended audience. The audio component for level one opens up its use with younger students. The information and activities are not overwhelming. The images and movies are decent.

Description:

StarChild provides information and activities centered on all aspects of astronomy and space exploration. The site is split into two levels. Level one information is accompanied by an audio component of the text on the page. Each level contains information on the Solar System, the Universe and a glossary of terms. There is a `Question of the Month´ page where interesting topics are explored and explained. The site is available in German, Portuguese and Italian. Connect to `Imagine the Universe´ a companion site for ages 14 and up.

Possible uses:

Use the StarChild Scavenger Hunt pages for students to thoroughly explore the pages and find information. Younger students can listen to the audio in level one to learn information. Students studying any number of topics can test their knowledge with the interactive activities. Teachers can pinpoint specific activities for students to do. Teachers can find posters to print and lesson ideas in the `In the Classroom´ area.
