These design tools are fun to play with and easy to use. They are simply design tools which means that educators would need to create parameters for students to provide academic uses for the tools. The tutorial for flash programming appears to be well designed. Ongoing help with the tutorial is not provided.

Description:

Small Blue Printer provides two interactive design tools - the garden planner and the small blue printer. The online garden planner (there is also a home edition for purchase) allows the user to lay out features of a yard on a graph. `Plant“ trees, shrubs, plants, ground cover. Add buildings, paving, ponds, furniture, walls, fences and other objects. The small blue printer helps the viewer design a floor plan of a home inserting windows, walls and doors. Then view the design in 3D or from an isometric view.

Possible uses:

Teachers can create assignments with specifications for students to meet using these design tools. The graph provides a measurement tool for students to work with. These tools are provided by artifactinteractive.com.au. Connect to this site to see other games created by this group and learn more about how they design and use flash to create various media. A tutorial about flash is part of the main site.
