The Globe Theater is, of course, a part of Shakespeare. It seems a study of Shakespeare always includes some time learning about the stage where his plays were performed. This site allows students to visualize the theater and imagine the setting. The exhibit is explained online and includes some images that can be shared with students. The virtual tour allows one to feel as if they are standing right on the stage. This site shares The Globe with those far away. I only wish there were more to it that were interactive. View http://ise.uvic.ca/index.html for more on Shakespeare online.

Description:

Shakespeare´s Globe shares information, images, resources and a virtual tour with online visitors. From the site: "Founded by the pioneering American actor/director Sam Wanamaker, Shakespeare's Globe is a unique international resource dedicated to the exploration of Shakespeare's work, and the playhouse for which he wrote, through the connected means of education and performance."

Possible uses:

In the Education section, find Distance Learning and from there a virtual tour and some of the research resources on the site. Additional links can be found in the Information section. Find images to share with students during discussion about the Globe Theater. Allow students to move about the theater in the virtual tour component. Find resources to inform teaching, to share with students or direct students to for independent research.
