The links area provides connections to exhibits and collections. There are also several exhibits and projects here that are quite good and will stimulate conversations among students. Red Studio is a small site compared to the resources offered through the MoMA collections and exhibits but it is an interesting collection of interviews and activities aimed at a teen audience. It shows students interacting with artists in a thoughtful, mature manner.

Description:

Get a glimpse inside two artists“ lives, create online designs and connect to exhibits and collections at the MoMA. From the website: "Red Studio, developed by MoMA in collaboration with high school students, explores issues and questions raised by teens about modern art, today's working artists and what goes on behind the scenes at a museum. Featuring interviews by teens of artists Vito Acconci and Shahzia Sikander, along with the interactive youDESIGN and REMIX activities and the talk back bulletin board, Red Studio will be periodically updated and expanded. There are many new features, activities and contests to come."

Possible uses:

Art students can learn about the two artists presented and discuss topics that arise in the interviews. Teachers can also use these interviews as models to create good interview questions. Students can explore the two design tools - a collage generator and a tool to design a school. Sign up for a newsletter for the MoMA and explore the exhibits and collections through the links button.
