The "Crew Checklist" might be useful to print out right from the start of the project to guide students. This WebQuest involves a lot of reading and research. The worksheets and organizers for students are well designed and print easily from the web.

Description:

In this WebQuest, students travel to a planet, explore and then share their impressions and data with their peers. From the introduction: "You are an astronaut on a mission to another planet in our solar system. You will join a crew to gather information about your destination. When you become experts, you will voyage to this planet. After exploring it, you will contact Mission Control on Earth by cyber postcard to communicate your impressions and data."

Possible uses:

In groups of three, have students embark on this WebQuest. Students create a team badge, research, take notes, collect data, create a cyber postcard with an image of their planet on it and then present their findings to the class. Teachers can also utilize some of the resources on this WebQuest to integrate into an Astronomy unit without participating in the project.
