Pennsylvania Trail of History
Recommendation:
This site shares previews of the many exhibits at various Pennsylvania museums. The online interactive experiences are most valuable to a wider population. These are listed, but not viewable until contacting a person connected with the site. Hopefully the response is speedy and access is easy to these experiences. From the start page, click on `to your school´s front door´ to connect to the online exhibit page. In the state museum´s page, click on `Exhibits´ to find an additional three online exhibits that are immediately accessible.
Description:
From the website: "Pennsylvania's historic sites and museums including The State Museum of Pennsylvania, Somerset Historical Center and the Eckley Miners' Village are blazing trails with all new distance learning offerings that allow your students to `follow´ The Pennsylvania Trail of History® without all the travel. "Museum Educators have created live, interactive, standard-aligned programs that will allow your students to explore early elementary through more sophisticated Pennsylvania topics in science, history and the arts."
Possible uses:
Classes can use all of the online experiences to enhance their study of Pennsylvania history. Or use the experiences to prepare students for upcoming field trips. Students further away can learn about many aspects of Pennsylvania´s history that connect to national history.
