The areas of the website where students submitted work or opinions did not load. The site is valuable without these components, though. The themed story and writing activity integrates writing with social growth. It allows students to give advice to the characters, empowering them and their ideas.

Description:

From the website: "The Little Planet Times is a newspaper for kids and by kids, with a little help from the characters on the Little Planet. "Each issue has a central theme for children to read about, to write about, to discuss and to learn. The ideas, the stories and the creations that young writers submit are published and folded into every new issue. To begin, we suggest that you first read the front page story --- and then click on the Activities Button at the bottom of the first page."

Possible uses:

Teachers can share the front page story with students and then set off on a writing assignment related to the theme. The story ends with lots of questions to prompt young writers. Students can learn more about each of the characters by reading more pages on the site.
