The articles are short and easy to read. The topics cover a variety of content areas and are high interest articles for students. If opened up for students to choose any article to read, everyone in the class would find something to capture their attention. In "Info Central" articles are organized by content and symbols denote whether the article is a student creation, a staff creation and if it is available in Spanish.

Find lots of current news for kids on topics to capture kids´ interests at Kids News Room. From the website: "Kidsnewsroom.org provides children with a safe, kid-friendly Internet site loaded with stories, pictures, contests and opportunities for learning. Each week, a new issue is added to the site with the latest news in sports, music & entertainment, health, history, local events and happenings around the world, all designed with kids in mind!"

Possible uses:

Teachers can use this site to find daily current events to share with their class. Students can look at the site to read news stories and practice their reading for understanding skills. Students can practice their writing and reporting skills and submit articles to the site. Classes learning Spanish can use the site to find articles for reading practice or for translation. The games can be used during down times.
