The images on the site and the activities are of good quality. The site is primarily a research resource and does not provide any online activities. Use this as a comparative study with women in war in America to gather a larger world view of womens rights.

Description:

'No Job for a Woman' shares information on the effects of war on British womens lives in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Four chronological periods shape the site: pre 1914, First World War, Second World War and post 1945. 'For each chronological period there is an image gallery and a short piece of text which explains women's roles in society at that time. 'In addition, five main themes span the 20th and 21st century: A woman's place is in the home; Women's work: war work; That's no job for a woman: the services; War babes: stereotypes, pinups and prejudice; You have no right: protest and equality.' Each theme has a corresponding image gallery and classroom resources available in PDF format for download.

Possible uses:

Students studying any of the time periods included in this site can learn about similarities and differences between the women in America and the women in Britain. The images can be shared to provide visual illustrations of the work women did during times of war. Activities and resources can be found related to protesting war, too. Several classroom activities are available for use with this site. Teachers and students can use this site for research purposes.
