This site provides a comprehensive world view of the effects of global warming. It takes the topic beyond `We´ve had a warm winter this year,´ and extends the impact and importance to all areas of the world. It also offers possible solutions that can be further researched. The curriculum guide is complete and well written.

Description:

From the website: "The map -- an exciting visual tool for learning about the impacts of global climate change -- highlights recent events around the world in two broad categories: direct indicators of the observed long-term global warming trend (fingerprints) and events that are consistent with the projections for global climate change and are likely to become more frequent and widespread with continued warming (harbingers). "Geared towards students and teachers in grades 9-12, individual exercises are adaptable to different grade levels. Each activity is structured to include an initial Engagement exercise, one or more steps of a Student Exploration project and further ideas for extended study."

Possible uses:

Use the interactive map to learn about various areas of the world that provide strong indicators of global warming. Read about the impacts these climate changes have and download a curriculum guide to use with the site. Students can research and report to the class about a country or continent and discuss and compare the trends they observe.
