This site is comprehensive and diverse. It is informational and interactive. It is interdisciplinary. The science project page provide projects and information about `what you´ll discover,´ which make them good science projects, not science fair projects. There are also links to science fair project resources. The `Find It!´ page shows a color coded web map of the site that is helpful. There are resources provided for educators.

Description:

Energy WebQuest provides a 20 chapters of information on `The Energy Story,´ an interactive timeline, homework help, an online novel, related games, science projects and resources. From the website: "Energy is an integral part of our daily lives. Without energy our society would decay into prehistoric savagery. Teaching an `energy ethic´ to conserve finite resources is essential to our energy future, which is currently dependent on fossil fuels. We also must rely on our youth to help us create new ways to harness the elemental forces of our planet and the universe. They are tomorrow's scientists and inventors. They will discover new means of energy production and innovative ways to use less energy. We hope Energy Quest will answer their questions and spur creativity and imagination."

Possible uses:

Classes can use all or some of the chapter of the Energy Story to learn about energy. "The forms of energy include: Electricity, Biomass Energy - energy from plants, Geothermal Energy, Fossil Fuels - Coal, Oil and Natural Gas, Hydro Power and Ocean Energy, Nuclear Energy, Solar Energy, Wind Energy, Transportation Energy "We will also look at turbines and generators, at what electricity is, how energy is sent to users, and how we can decrease or conserve the energy we use. Finally, we'll look at the `newer´ forms of energy and take a look at energy in the future." Students can find answers to frequently asked questions to help them understand the topic and aid them with homework assignments. Play the games, read the online story and find science project ideas and plans. Teachers can find resources related to the topic.
