This WebQuest challenges students to think critically, compare information and then use what they´ve learned to create their own original piece of writing. The topic is interesting to the age group, though may not be the most interesting fairy tale for all students. The WebQuest is thoughtfully designed, clear for students and provides a helpful teacher page that includes variations on the project.

Description:

In cooperative learning groups students study several variations of the Cinderella story. They compare the stories, determine structural features and study character development. Then they create poetry and an original story.

Possible uses:

Use this WebQuest to launch a unit on fairy tales. Students work together to read and critique six versions of the Cinderella story. They write poems, evaluate the characters and then create their own version of the story. Teachers can use the resources provided for a comparative literature study without completing the WebQuest. Students can research to find other Cinderella stories from around the world.
