The audio components are clear and helpful. The games are simple to understand and focus on language learning, they are not meant to test learned knowledge. The topics are beginner language ones - family, food, numbers, colors, etc. The graphics are fun and appropriate.

This site helps students practice and learn beginning French and German. Read, listen and learn! From the website: "This web site is based on the Channel 4 television series Hennings Haus and Chez Mimi. The site has been designed to enhance language learning in as fun a way as possible. It has not been designed as a full language course; instead the site concentrates on key areas such as family relationships, food, numbers, colors, directions and clothing. "The emphasis of the site is for users to have fun. Through the use of games, users have a visual, audio and interactive experience in another language. Instructions are given in English so that users clearly understand what each game involves before they start playing. All the games can be used by individuals; however they could also be used for group work or indeed with a whole class. Translations of the vocabulary used in each game is contained within the Knowledge Area. There is also a text only version of this area."
Possible uses:
After learning vocabulary in one of the areas on the site, have students try the related game to solidify the words. Challenge students to do the games without help or sound. Share the site on a projector to introduce students to some of the vocabulary. Students can use this site as a resource at home for help with pronunciation of vocabulary.
