Calculus Help
Recommendation:
The tutorials contain clear explanations (audio) and simple graphics. It seems that the annual calculus contest and the problems of the week stopped in 2004. The archives of the weekly problems are available. The author of the site also advertises his math books on this site, but they are not pop-up ads so they interfere little with the site.
Description:
Created by the author of several calculus books, this site offers interactives and information useful to calculus students. It also has silly songs and other fun elements. From the website: "This website offers content for both advanced high school students and college calculus students. In addition to free multimedia tutorials, it continues to offer a practice problem just about every week that is answered in plain, everyday English the following week. It also boasts an annual calculus contest for high school students and has all kinds of fun stuff to sift through. Our pledge is that CalculusHelp.com will always be free to all visitors and always be uncluttered by pop-up ads and obnoxious third party advertising. Teachers and students should feel free to use this web page however they like, as long as it´s for personal or class use."
Possible uses:
Teachers and students can use the tutorials for two chapters: limits and continuity and finding derivatives. View them together as a class or students can use them at home for extra explanations and practice. Use the problems of the week for challenge and practice. All the formulas for Calculus I and II are in `cheat sheet´ form for memorizing. Sign up to receive a weekly newsletter during the school year when new problems of the week are posted or other additions to the site are made.
