www.Bullying.org
Recommendation:
This site provides some interesting pieces of information and original compositions related to bullying. Not all of it is appropriate for younger students and teachers need to screen what they use. The idea of being online mentors and part of the `Peer Power Network´ are intriguing in that they may, in turn, have an effect on the home school environment as well.
Description:
Bullying.org provides opportunities for viewers to learn, share and help in eliminating bullying. From the website: "Our purpose is to eliminate bullying in our society by supporting individuals and organizations to take positive actions against bullying through the sharing of resources, and to guide and champion them in creating non-violent solutions to the challenges and problems associated with bullying. "Bullying.org is dedicated to increasing the awareness of, and the problems associated with, bullying and to preventing, resolving and eliminating bullying in society."
Possible uses:
Teachers can find information about bullying to share with classes. In the `Share´ area of the site teachers can find stories, poems, music and multimedia presentations viewers have submitted. Some of these could be shared with students to start conversations. Students can take an active role in responding to others´ entries and becoming online mentors and part of the `Peer Power Network.´
