Book Pop: Virtualiterature
Recommendation:
The story books are wonderfully illustrated and are nice stories for young students. The audio is clear and the stories are read by a storyteller. Some of the audio deviates slightly from the text which makes following along as a reading skill practice a little bit of a challenge.
Description:
Book Pop contains web enhanced reading adventures. Find web enhanced stories you can read or listen as the site´s creator reads to you. From the site´s author, Steven Cosgrove: "I set out to create a safe haven on the web filled with magic and wonder. Here imaginative stories encourage basic human values. Delightfully we have created all of this and more."
Possible uses:
Students can read stories and have stories read to them with use of this site. The books are like virtual books with illustrations to look at. The stories are just audio. Listen to music from the site or download coloring pages. Teachers can share a story with students or have this as a station for students to read in pairs or with an older helper. The stories are long enough that they could be read in installments, allowing for time to discuss and predict. At the end of the stories, students can email to the character or author.
