There is an extensive number of resources on this site. The fiction area contains works from `classic authors.´ Contemporary pieces are not included. This site is like having a small library of reference books, along with other anthologies and novels, at your fingertips.

Description:

Bartleby provides reference books, verse, fiction and nonfiction books online. It calls itself the "Preeminent publisher of literature, reference and verse providing students, researchers and the intellectually curious with unlimited access to books and information on the web, free of charge." Search the site by resource type, subject, title, author or search through the dictionaries, encyclopedias, thesaurus, quotations and English usage reference materials. Individual anthologies can also be searched through to find specific information or pieces. Short biographic information on authors is included.

Possible uses:

Teachers wanting to share a particular text found on this site can use it free of charge. Share a poem on a projector or use the site as a reference. Students can read several poems by one author and study the works online rather than needing to purchase books for the class.
