The activities on this site for students are interesting and engaging. Animation is added to still paintings and stories are told that will capture young minds. The area to create art online is placing and moving stamped images around, not an original creation.

Description:

This is the kid´s page from the National Gallery of Art. Children can create art online, explore paintings in depth and learn interesting details about the time period, the artist and the subject. Students learn about artist technique and form. Teachers can find lessons and activities to use with this site, in the classroom or at the museum.

Possible uses:

Incorporate an activity into curriculum. Share an activity with a projector and talk with students about the art forms, historical connection and the smallest details in some of the paintings. Find lessons and activities. Print out Family Guides to share with parents to foster discussion of art at home. Connect to the NGA homepage for additional art resources.
