This WebQuest asks students to gain knowledge and apply it to an original creation. It extends beyond a research WebQuest and does a nice job providing a framework for students. The teacher pages are extensive and include helpful information for organizing and planning the WebQuest.

Description:

Students become geometric experts and propose a new project for Central Park, like Christo´s large exhibit of gates draped with orange fabric. From the site: "The purpose of this WebQuest is to allow students to explore a cultural event while using geometric patterns (involving symmetry, patterns and geometric shapes) to design their geometric knowledge to the creation of a design that incorporates different geometric elements"

Possible uses:

This WebQuest can be used as an introduction or as a culminating project for a geometry unit. Working in groups of three, each student becomes an expert in one geometric area. Students then examine artwork for its geometric presentation and finally collaborate on an original design.
