At some point in a child´s education, it seems Anne Frank is studied. This site helps create a full picture of her and her situation, as well as offers information about those who helped her family. The primary source material is available for research. This site is visually appealing and respectful at the same time. It is easy to use; the site map is particularly helpful.

Description:

The Anne Frank Museum website provides a comprehensive look at the young writer, her stories and background information about her family´s time in hiding. Educational activities, research capabilities, news, seminars, products and information about the museum all make up the site. Continuing efforts for unity and peace are objectives of the museum. From the site: "The former hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her diary, is now a well-known museum. The museum tells the history of the eight people in hiding and those who helped them during the war. Anne Frank's diary is among the original objects on display. "In addition to Anne Frank's history, there is also a central current theme at the museum. The exhibition 'Out of Line' displays how basic rights may clash: the freedom of speech versus the right to be protected against discrimination."

Possible uses:

Images, video and text can all be shared with students with this site. Students can be assigned stories to read, summarize and share with the class. Teachers can find components of the site to augment the portion of the diary as the class reads it. Teachers can also find activities and projects for classes to participate in to further the topic into a broader picture of discrimination. The site is also offered in six languages.
