This site is very well organized and presents its topics in several manners, such as by theme or timeline, for viewers. It is visually interesting and interactive in several ways. The information is presented in an interesting manner. Older students can read and browse on their own and younger students will appreciate the content and images with reading help from others.
Description:
America on the Move shares transportation history through themes, a travel exhibit and collections of artifacts and images. Find learning resources, lesson plans and online activities for students. From the website: "See how we got here. Transportation transformed America. Choose from these three interconnected routes to explore how transportation shaped our lives, landscapes, culture and communities."
Possible uses:
Browse the site to find pieces that fit into curriculum or student interest. Share these with the class via a projector or in small groups. Students can conduct research in small groups to share with their peers. Teachers will find materials to use for self-guided experiences or whole class activities, in conjunction with the site. There are also two 30-minute electronic field trips.
