Log It
Recommendation:
This site is an online pedometer charting with a competitive edge. Students will be motivated by the competition and seeing their progress on graphs and charts.
Description:
From the website: "Log It is designed to motivate elementary-aged kids to become and remain physically active, by allowing them to log their daily physical activity steps or miles online. In addition to recording their steps or miles, they can participate in a virtual hike across the USA with their class, become involved in class competitions vs. other classes, set daily goals, view their own personal step log and compare their steps with other youngsters of the same age and gender from different schools and states."
Possible uses:
This site encourages students to walk and run. Students and teachers can use this site to log their pedometer steps, see their progress and challenge themselves with a 'hike' across the U.S. or compete with another class. Students learn information about the U.S. capitals as they hike across the country. The home page also contains "Kids Quiz," where students can answer a daily health/nutrition/sports question. Correct answers are entered into a drawing for a t-shirt.
