Students are required to think carefully about each of their choices in designing a house. In the 'For teachers and librarians' page, multiple ideas and suggestions for activities and learning opportunities through the architect studio are provided. This site provides a design tool that could be bought on software, for free. At the time of this review, the landscaping feature was not up and running yet.

Description:

From the website: "ArchitectStudio3D provides students with a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge of architecture and the design process and to learn about Frank Lloyd Wright and his innovative work. Designed to appeal to the interests and abilities of 11-14-year-old users, students will experience the creativity and challenge of being an architect, while at the same time gaining practice in skills related to national education standards in math, social studies, language arts and fine art. Addressing various learning styles and demands of curriculum, ArchitectStudio3D.org is a great teaching tool that is both challenging and satisfying."

Possible uses:

Students can work independently or in pairs to create a virtual house. Before starting the design process, classes can study architecture, design and discuss features using the 'about architecture' page. Find additional ideas on the teacher page and several links to Frank Lloyd Wright.
