While this site is full of useful online activities, it is not organized as well as it could be. It takes some time to surf around to find out about the many components of this site. Most of the activities depend on the books, so purchasing the books and being familiar with the character of E-Wally is essential. The idea of an internet savvy character is a good one for the upcoming generation. The site does well to teach internet safety rules as part of the stories.

Description:

From the website: "E-Wally and the Quest and E-Wally and the Renegades are adventure tales for the I-Generation. They were written to be shared among children, their families and their teachers. E-Wally's story is a classical myth, with heroes, villains and adventure! "E-Wally is a hero for the cyber-generation! Born of the Internet, E-Wally lives his life and adventures in a way that makes sense of the fast-paced and powerful technology culture in which our children are growing up. By reading the book, adults and children will begin to explore the impact that technology and the Internet has on our lives. The E-Wally website contains activities that encourage communication across generations, hands-on fun and shared learning."

Possible uses:

Use this website to find activities and lessons related to the E-Wally adventure tales. Activities are organized to be completed after reading chapters in the book. Classes can join up with other classes from around the country to explore the topics from the books. A mentoring program is available for students to find a mentor to meet with in person or an e-mail mentor. Mentoring is centered around the E-Wally curriculum.
