Recommendation:
A grid directory makes finding appropriate grade level and topic areas very easy. The activities are engaging and teach as well as challenge students. Share this site with parents as a resource for activities students can do at home on the computer.
Description:
Created by a Utah State University team for the National Science Foundation, this site provides interactive activities across all grade levels and five math content areas: Number & Operations, Geometry, Algebra, Measurement and Data Analysis & Probability. The site was created to help students visualize mathematical relationships and applications through virtual manipulatives. The virtual library allows viewers to search activities by grade level and content area. Activities provide links for teachers, instructions, additional activities and a link to the relevant math standards.
Possible uses:
Classes can complete activities relevant to curriculum throughout the school year. Students needing additional explanations or another view of a topic can explore the interactive experiences. This site can be used for filler for students who complete math work before class time is finished. Teachers will find useful activities and ideas for making math topics more accessible for all students.
