The 'Mouthie' animation is simple and engaging for students of varying ages. Facts are shared through interactive experiences that students can complete in short periods of time. The activities are simple yet meaningful to the audience.

Description:

Mouth Power Online is an interactive learning site from the National Museum of Dentistry. From the website: "MouthPower Online offers users an interactive learning experience about oral health. There are six modules within MouthPower Online, each focusing on a different aspect of oral health and dentistry. In each one, a character named Mouthie serves as guide and in some cases, as test subject, to help children explore and learn about oral health. "The program uses the Museum's expertise and resources to present an interactive educational experience resulting in a working knowledge of oral anatomy and an understanding of the effects of foods, oral hygiene habits, and cigarette and spit tobacco use on oral health."

Possible uses:

This site was designed for scout troops and other youth organizations to work through to earn a participatory patch. Classes studying oral health and the effects of tobacco can utilize this site, too. Students can independently explore the six areas of the site or focus on one area relevant to their curriculum. Viewing with a projector, teachers can share elements or all of this site with a class and discuss. Older students can help younger ones work through this site and create a poster or other creative piece together in the Creativity Corner. Viewers can also create their own tooth growth timeline.
