This site is well organized and provides a variety of resources for students and teachers to utilize in relation to other countries. Students' perspectives will be broader with components of this site incorporated into their classroom. The first hand accounts and information create a personal connection to a study.

Description:

From the website: "Coverdell World Wise Schools (CWWS) is an innovative education program that seeks to engage learners in an inquiry about the world, themselves, and others in order to: broaden perspectives; promote cultural awareness; appreciate global connections; and encourage service. "The Coverdell World Wise Schools program offers engaging stories, classroom resources, and ideas for service projects based on the experiences of Peace Corps Volunteers around the world. "WWS resources are structured around enduring understandings, essential questions and content standards." Lesson plans are searchable by grade level, geographic region, topic and publication title. Classes can sign up to connect with current Peace Corp volunteers and receive a letter with accompanying activities each month. Primary Resources from volunteers are also available. These include stories, folk tales, 'A Day in the Life,' letters and videos.

Possible uses:

Classes can receive information all year long about life in other countries via the Cyber Volunteer connection. Two versions of letters and lessons are available, one for elementary and one for high school levels. Students and teachers will find a valuable resource on this site for first hand information about life in various countries. Find 'Kids World' from the student button for activities geared towards younger students.
