Eternal Egypt
Recommendation:
This site contains an excellent guide to introduce the site, which explains the various components of the site and guides the user to find specific information or simply explore the array of media. An incredible piece of this site is "Connections" where students discover and learn about the explicit and implicit relationships between artifacts, people and places.

From the website: "This site brings to light over five thousand years of Egyptian civilization. Eternal Egypt is a living record of a land rich in art and history, people and places, myths and religions. The stories of Eternal Egypt are told using the latest interactive technologies, high-resolution imagery, animations, virtual environments, remote cameras, three-dimensional models and more." Text to speech audio technology is available on the site.
Possible uses:
Explore Egypt's past and present through a plethora of media options, interactive virtual environments, 3-D views of artifacts, interactive time lines and maps, all with high quality images. The glossary also provides an audio 'pronunciation' button. Teachers can search and create relevant material in a section called 'My Collection.' This allows teachers to plan ahead to share information from the site they determine to be most relevant. The site also provides a well-documented series about the making of the website and process of obtaining images. This is an excellent guide for anyone wishing to create similar material.
