The images and time lapse gallery on this site are intriguing. For students to participate in the project and create their own video clip will take a time commitment and teacher support. Guidance is offered, though gaining knowledge and creating a project yourself before introducing it to students is advised.

Description:

From the website: "Here at the Playing With Time website, unseen worlds of change will be revealed. You will see time sped up and slowed down and behold the beauty of change. Time will be in your hands to witness, replay, and even create. You never know... you might not look at things quite the same way again. "The web site consists of a gallery, an activities area, and a collaborators area. The gallery displays a growing collection of videos and animations of change over time, some of which could be provided by you. The activities area contains interactive puzzles and games relating to time and change. "The collaborators area is where you can discuss your project with us and other project leaders. You can review an online version of this manual and ask questions about your project."

Possible uses:

This site contains time lapse video of an incredible amount of things. From planets moving to an eyelid closing, you will find things that intrigue children. Such an exploratory experience can help students understand perspective and change over time. In the 'toolkit' link, students are coached to create their own time lapse project using still photography or video.
